Minneapolis Marathon

Sunday I ran in the Inaugural Minneapolis Marathon. It was a beautiful day for a run, cool at the start and little breeze. I had a great first half of the run (I was ahead of the 4 hour and 45 minutes pace group, maybe I should of stayed with them!) and then "the wall" hit me. I was very ready to be done at mile 18. I was tired and hurting. I managed to run till mile 20 ( I think) where my family was waiting cheering for me, and then I had to walk.

I was almost in tears at that point. I ended up walking about the last 6 miles and I finished my second marathon with a time of 5 hours and 9 minutes. My legs are hurting very badly and I was very tired. The heat climbed to upper 70's if not 80's and that effected my also. One thing I am proud of is that I didn't have to stop at a Port-a-Potty till mile 19! I first for me=-) I am disappointed in my time, I was hoping to beat my Twin Cities time of 5 hours but my body and my mind wouldn't let me (probably more my mind). I normally would say "oh well, maybe next time," but I really don't think there will be a next time, I think I will stick to shorter distances.
