BrOkEn

Yesterday was a first in our family. It is amazing that this first has taken so long to arrive. The first that happened was a broken bone! Poor Ryan was the unfortunate one to have this family first, Jason and I have never broken a bone! He was playing flag football with the neighbor boys and jumped and fell on his left shoulder causing his collar bone to break. He came home crying but I didn't think he was hurt that bad. He continued to complain about it for the rest of the night, screamed when we tried to put his PJ's on (that's when I decided it probably did hurt, I'm not very simpathetic) and then woke up crying during the night. He was still complaining this morning, so I made an appointment with the Dr for right away in the morning to let them decide if something was wrong. The Dr checked him out and noticed his collar bone was looking a little different than the other, the xray proved that sure enough it was broken! He has to wear a sling for 4-6 weeks or until it starts to feel better, amazingly enough is that the collar bone heals one it's own and very quickly. The poor guy can't participate in his soccer clinics and gymnastics so I'm sure he will be bummed about that for longer than the bone is going to hurt him!

As you can see he isn't in too much pain for as bad as the break looks.
I brought him to school today and all the kids noticed his sling and were concerned, I think he will be the talk of the class today. He was also excited because when he asked if he could be pick up today (instead of riding the bus) I told him I would pick him up.
Hopefully the next break doesn't happen for a long time, if ever!
